Living in Memphis

So a couple posts ago I mentioned that we would be moving to Memphis, TN for the summer because TG is selling for APX Alarm. Getting ready to leave for Memphis was a little crazy because I also had to pack up everything in my classroom, take it to my house and clean it out. Luckily my wonderful sister, Brooke, helped out a ton with Keilani while TG and I were getting ready to leave. My last day of work was on Friday and I had mixed emotions about it. I was sad to say goodbye to all my friends, but also happy to finally be able to stay home with my girl. I taught all five years at Central Elementary and I will truly miss all the wonderful people I was able to meet and become friends with. My wonderful room mom made a book compiled of letters that my current and previous students had written to me. It was fun reading all the letters and reminiscing about each year I taught.

So on the last day of school, the students left at 10:30, we had a luncheon with the faculty at 11:00, I was home by 1:30, and we were on the road by 4:30. I was just praying that Keilani would do well. She slept most of the way and only fussed when she was hungry or poopy. She did a lot better than her parents. The drive seemed so long for us. We used Mapquest to get to Memphis and it was great until we hit Missouri and then it took us on 8 different highways, where the speed limit ranged from 35 mph to 65 mph. We spent most of Saturday driving through Missouri which was pretty, but after passing the 50th farm it got pretty boring. We only stopped for 4 hours to take a little nap and were in Memphis by 1:30 am Sunday morning. I was determined not to drive on Sunday, mostly because it was my birthday and driving was not my idea of a fun activity for my birthday. Anyway, we made it here safe and sound. This summer is going to be a lot of fun. Most of the salesmen who are in this office were out with us last summer in California. Plus there are a lot of fun wives and babies for Keilani to play with. I'm also really excited to be living so close to my sister, Mindi, who lives near Nashville. We are going to miss our friends and family back home and I promise to post lots of pictures throughout the summer.

Here are a couple pictures we took the other day:

Wow - sounds like you had a CRAZY last day of school! I bet it was hard - I only taught two years before I had Hallie and although I miss it at times, I know I'd miss her much more if I had to leave her. And as she gets older, you'll see how rewarding it is to be able to use those teaching skills on your own child. Glad you guys are safe in TN - sounds like a fun summer! P.S. Keilani is adorable, as always! And happy late birthday!
